Field Guide: Invasive Plant ID ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and your rights.
The App uses your device camera and photo library solely to capture plant images for identification. Photos are sent directly to the PlantNet identification service for analysis and are not stored on our servers. Images are processed in memory and discarded immediately after a result is returned.
The App optionally requests your approximate location to determine your US state for regional native/invasive plant assessments. Location data is used only in-session and is never stored, shared, or transmitted to any third party.
The App uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication to create a temporary, non-identifiable session. This session is used solely for rate limiting (to prevent abuse of the plant identification service). No account is created, and no personal information is collected or linked to this session.
Your plant scan history is stored locally on your device only using your device's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not synced to any server or cloud service.
The App offers an optional subscription ("Field Pass") via Apple's In-App Purchase system. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store any payment card information. Purchase records are managed through RevenueCat, which processes only a non-identifiable receipt token — no name, email, or financial information.
The App does not use any analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking tools. We do not track your behavior, build profiles, or share any data with advertisers.
Each of these services operates under their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.
The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The App is rated 4+ and suitable for all ages.
Since we do not store any personal data on our servers, there is no account or data to delete. Your local scan history can be cleared at any time from the App's Settings screen.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of any revised policy.
